A Mother Poem

A mother

I remember the day you were born
I cried, felt pain of joy, my mind saying
I will be a mother.
I held in my arms you were so beautiful
And innocent, a voice came, 'I am a mother'.
I know you couldnt see me at that time
But you felt my love, my smell, my being
I am a mother

As a mother it is my duty to give you a hand, to love you,
But most importantly to tell you
About your father who loves you unconditional
Who wants you to be like him.
It is my duty to show you his ways.
Your duty is to take what I give & give it to the world
I am a mother

I am a mother
Possibilities are,
Flesh of my flesh
Born of my born will never be but
I am a mother
My father needs me to embrace my womanhood
To teach, to love, to be kind, to nature you my babies
I am a mother
Your duty is to let me be your mother

I am a mother
