An ass was envious of a horse which was always well groomed and given more food than it could finish.
On the other hand, the ass had scarcely enough to eat, and also had to handle strenuous work.
War soon broke out. An armed soldier mounted the horse and rode it into battle.
The horse eventuallly died on the battlefield.
On seeing that, the ass pitied the horse instead.
Moral
Choose contentment instead of pining for wealth
and status.
