Motivation and Emotion

A central question for both professional and amateur psychologists concerns why people behave as they do. An interest in this question has led to research and theory about motivation, the process of energizing and directing goal-oriented behaviour.
A related interest in less observable processes has developed work on emotion, the subjective experience of motivation, and the feeling that accompanies motivation.

Motivation is a process that both energizes and directs goal-oriented behaviour. A number of theories have been developed since the early years of scientific psychology to explain how behaviour is both energized and directed. Theories of motivation have been developed and modified to reflect prevailing assumptions about human nature and the effects of the environment on behaviour.
Both motivation and emotion are constructs, processes which cannot be directly observed or studied but whose entecedent conditions(causes) and consequences(outcome behaviours) can be so reasearched. Many other topicssuch as learning, cognitive processes, and perception - are also constructs in the sense that they cannot be directly studied, but they can be inferred to occur as processes between the factors that cause them and the behaviours they bring about.
Our Deepest Fear

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
Is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be.
You are a child of God.
Your playing small doesn't serve the world.
There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we're liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
